Collections

There are pinecones and dandelions on the mantle
alongside my plants and vintage bottles.
Every vase in the house is full of sticks you've gathered.

Tonight, you brought me an onion.
Really just a rooted weed from outside.
Japanese Magnolia blossoms intrigue you.
They've found there way to the dashboard of my car.

Your grubby little fingernails look like my own
after a full day at work.
On you, they're charming.
Symbols of boyhood and curiosity.

I'm trying to capture your sense of wonder
at all of these tiny things.
Going around taking pictures of plants
and blooms
and mossy patches.

Funny how being small,
you see the bigger things in this life.
